Handwriting Boost Camp

Easily boost your child’s confidence with handwriting camp!

Solving your child’s handwriting issues early in their education is important. If a child continues to be frustrated with handwriting it affects all subjects and homework becomes a battle. As your child’s schoolwork load increases so does their frustration.

How do we enhance your child’s handwriting?

Connect Experience Write® is a unique fun and engaging handwriting program using music and movement to teach letter formation. This sensory-based handwriting program integrates the sound, visual and movement systems to help kids feel the rhythm of each letter.

Kids dance and move to musical tones that simulate writing strokes needed to form letters. As a developmental program, handwriting instruction through CEW® starts with whole-body movement and progresses to pencil-to-paper work. In CEW®, students then write letters using visual templates while listening to music that simulates the movements needed to form the letters. The visual templates highlight the important landmarks for the letter formation. The music helps determine the type of line to form, for example straight, curved, or diagonal. This combination of visual templates and auditory guides strengthens the visual spatial foundations related to writing.

In small groups we will focus on:

  • Creating a fun environment to address willingness to write and emotional experiences of handwriting practice
  • Letter formation
  • Foundations that support writing, such as spatial concepts and body awareness

Our philosophy

Play is the occupation of children. As kids grow, it is through play that they develop their motor and sensory processing and integration skills. At Great Kids Place, in our state of the art sensory gym, we use play to optimize engagement and participation in occupational therapy sessions to work on the development of sensory, fine motor, gross motor, core strength, motor coordination, motor planning, visual and handwriting skills.
