Does your child have attention and focus issues? Difficulty planning out multi step tasks? Coordination issues? Executive functioning problems?
These tasks require the efficient timing and rhythm of our internal brain clock. The Interactive Metronome is a program that activates and directly trains this brain system. It involves moving in a sequence (clapping hands or tapping feet) to a pattern of audible tones. Visual cues and computer games are then added to the tone and movement patterns to encourage interest and help one increase the efficiency of their timing, rhythm, and processing skills.
The focus training provided by this system helps to control attention and quiet a busy mind to then direct focus towards relevant task information. One learns to tune out irrelevant distractions and increase feedback to the attention control centers of the brain and neural efficiency. As timing improves, motor control and coordination becomes more automatic which allows for more “brain power” to be devoted to planning and more complex tasks.
