Sensory Explorer

Your child is evaluated for the Sensory Processing Disorder subtypes – Sensory Over Responsive, Sensory Under Responsive, Sensory Seeking, Sensory-based Motor Disorder (Dyspraxia and/or Postural Disorders) and Sensory Discrimination Disorder. Children are then invited to explore sensational experiences to address the challenges in sensory processing identified both in the evaluation as well as by their family members.

Exploration takes place through play-based experiences in our sensory gym. Through play in the gym  your child will become more comfortable with different sensory experiences and adventure into areas that were once avoided or hard for him.  This will foster development of new motor, social and cognitive skills as well as facilitate a new sense of well-being. Your child will start to perceive their sensory processing differences as strengths and learn to navigate their world in a way that brings them joy and success.

Our philosophy

Play is the occupation of children. As kids grow, it is through play that they develop their motor and sensory processing and integration skills. At Great Kids Place, in our state of the art sensory gym, we use play to optimize engagement and participation in occupational therapy sessions to work on the development of sensory, fine motor, gross motor, core strength, motor coordination, motor planning, visual and handwriting skills.
